For many years, Len had been a member of San Mateo County Association of Realtors (SAMCAR). He became a member when SAMCAR was named the Redwood City - San Carlos - Belmont Board of Realtors. He is also a member of the California Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.
He has proudly served on the following committees:
Ethics Committee
This committee is responsible for investigating inquiries and complaints received from the general public as well as from its own membership regarding its members. It is a self-policing committee that serves the public and strives to attain the highest standards of service to the community.
Scholarship Committee
The Scholarship Committee had always been Len's "pride and joy" committee. Each year, for as long as he has been a member of SAMCAR, this committee has awarded scholarships to graduating seniors from each of the local high schools. A group of students from each high school were presented to this committee by the high schools and were then personally interviewed by the entire committee. After selection of 2 students from each high school
Among the qualifications were high scholastic achievements and community service. Students also had to be going on to a college or university to further their education. Many times, it was difficult to narrow down the selection due to such outstanding students.
During the years Len served as chairman of this committee, he would be present at the high school scholarship awards to present the students with a plaque signifying their accomplishments. A check would be made payable to the college they would be attending.
Len created the very successful "Pumpkin Patch" on Woodside Road, Redwood City to be able to have more scholarship funds for the students. He was instrumental in increasing the number of scholarships awarded annually to students. Open to the public, parents would bring their children there to select their own pumpkins. Carving and decorating contests were held each year and the Mayors of the 3 cities would appear and judge the winning pumpkins from several age groups. Free popcorn, soft drinks and cotton candy were available to all. Len never had a problem getting member volunteers to assist in setting up and operating the "Patch".
